Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Market linkages are critical for agricultural productivity and economic development, yet farmers in Minna LGA often struggle to access viable markets for their produce. Public Relations (PR) can bridge this gap by creating awareness, fostering partnerships, and facilitating communication between farmers and market stakeholders. Effective PR campaigns can promote trust, transparency, and collaboration, ultimately enhancing market access and improving farmers’ livelihoods.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Farmers in Minna LGA face challenges such as limited access to market information, poor infrastructure, and weak buyer-seller networks, which negatively impact their income and productivity. This study explores how PR strategies can improve market linkages for farmers by addressing these issues and enhancing stakeholder engagement.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

  3. H2: Addressing implementation challenges improves PR campaign effectiveness.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will provide valuable insights for agricultural policymakers, PR practitioners, and development agencies on using communication strategies to improve farmers’ market access and economic outcomes.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on PR strategies for enhancing market linkages for farmers within Minna LGA, Niger State.
